Blanton Publishes Digital Catalog of CPPC Contemporary Gifts
We are excited to share that the Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas Austin has published
Nuevos Diálogos/New Dialogues: Transformative Gifts from the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection to the Blanton Museum of Art.
This digital catalogue marks an important milestone in the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros’ (CPPC) long-term commitment to supporting institutions and advancing the field of Latin American art. It reflects the care and shared purpose that shaped our donation of contemporary artworks to the Blanton over the past three decades and celebrates the collaboration that has guided our partnership.
Now available through the
Blanton Publications portal, the catalogue focuses on a group of 68 artworks by 20 Latin American artists donated by the CPPC between 1998 and 2018.
Nuevos Diálogos/New Dialogues includes fully illustrated catalogue entries with provenance, exhibition history, and bibliographic information, along with a foreword by Blanton Director Simone J. Wicha and essays by Lucy Quezada, Vanessa K. Davidson, and Florencia Bazzano. Through close readings of works by Gego, Mateo Manaure, Quisqueya Henríquez, Mariana Castillo Deball, Jhafis Quintero, among others, the catalog explores how these gifts deepen the museum’s holdings and create opportunities for curators, scholars, and the public to engage with Latin American art in new and critical ways.
This publication forms part of a broader initiative through which the CPPC
donated over 200 contemporary works to six institutions across Latin America, the United States, and Europe. The six institutions were selected for their established interest in studying and featuring contemporary art from Latin America; the regional influence of their art collections, exhibitions, and programs; and for serving as important references for an international artistic community.
The catalogue is available in English and may be downloaded free of charge from the Blanton’s website.
