In his paper titled Unfinished and Abstracted: Paul Cezanne, a Painter of the Twentieth Century Despite Himself, Schiff discusses abstraction, focusing on the works of Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) and the possibility that he was producing abstract art before anybody had the slightest idea what abstract painting was.
