On May 23, 2019, the Museo del Prado hosted the presentation of ARS Magazine’s Premios Arte y Empresa. These awards recognize the role of public and private institutions, collectors, and cultural patrons of the arts in Spain.

The Prize for Best Donation was awarded to Patricia Phelps de Cisneros in recognition of her donations to several museums in Spain, Latin America, and the United States. In 2018, a total of thirty-nine works by twelve Latin American artists were donated to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, and forty-nine photographic artworks were donated to the Museo Universidad de Navarra. Both donations represent a concentrated effort to enrich the collections of these two important Spanish institutions. Plácido Arango, the recipient of last year’s award in this category, awarded the prize to Patricia Phelps de Cisneros at the presentation.

The other awardees included El Corte Inglés for “Best Cultural Idea;” Fundación Barrié de la Maza for “Best Restoration;” The National Gallery in London for “Best Acquisition of Spanish Art;” Endesa for The Patronage Prize; the exhibition Lorenzo Lotto. Retrato, organized by Museo del Prado and the National Gallery in London, for “Best International Exhibition;” and the exhibition Andy Warhol. El arte mecánico, organized by Fundación ‘la Caixa’ and Museo Picasso de Málaga, for “Best National Exhibition.”
