On November 21, 2019, Patricia Phelps de Cisneros will be in conversation with art history professor Estrella de Diego as part of the Fall lecture course Atlas portátil del arte en Latinoamerica, held at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. De Diego recently profiled Patricia Phelps de Cisneros on how she views her role as a custodian of a collection, in the article "The Cultural Activist as Collector" in Goya, Revista de arte (no 367). This conversation will be part of their ongoing exploration on the theme of collecting.

Atlas portátil del arte en Latinoamerica is directed by Estrella de Diego, and is presented as a map on which many routes have been drawn in approaching Latin American art across various disciplines, periods, and styles while addressing issues around identity, revolution, globalization, colonialism, and mestizaje. The course is comprised of twelve conferences in which writers, historians, architects, and respected curators guide us on this trip through art in Latin America, including its idiosyncrasies, its connections, and its vanishing points.
