Cristiana Tejo is an independent curator, PhD candidate in Sociology (UFPE) and co-founder of Espaço Fonte–Centro de Investigação em Arte. She was curator of Made in Mirrors Project, which comprised exchange between artists from Brazil, China, Egypt and the Netherlands. She was coordinator-in-chief of the Education department of the Directory of Culture, Fundação Joaquim Nabuco (January 2009–October 2011), and co-curator of 32º Panorama of Brazilian Art, MAM–São Paulo (2011), with Cauê Alves.
Tejo was Director of the Museum of Modern Art Aloísio Magalhães (2007- 2008); curator of Visual Arts of Fundação Joaquim Nabuco (2002–2006); Curator of Rumos Artes Visuais do Itaú Cultural (2005-2006)\; Visiting Curator of Torre Malakoff (2003–2006); and curator of 46º Salão de Artes Plásticas de Pernambuco (2004–2005). She was curator of the Special Room of Paulo Bruscky at X Biennial of Havana (2009); co-curated the Brazilian Summer Show–Art & the City (Museum Het Domein, Holland, 2009) with Roel Arkenstein; Futuro do Presente (Itaú Cultural, 2007) with Agnaldo Farias; and Art doesn´t deliver us from anything at all (ACC Galerie, Weimar, 2006) with Clio Bugel, Charlote Siedel, Paz Aburto and Frank Motz.
She has participated in many committees and juries, such as: Bonnefanten Contemporary Art Prize 2014 (Maastricht, Holland); Videobrasil 2013 (São Paulo), Solo Projects–Focus Latin America (ARCO, 2013); Rumos Artes Visuais of Argentina (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2011); Salão de Goiás; Salão Arte Pará; and Programa BNB Cultural, among others. Her publications include: Paulo Bruscky – Art in all senses (2009) and Panorama of emergent thought (2011). Tejo lives and works in Recife and Lisbon.
