The Fundación has an active agenda of conservation programs intended to preserve and protect Venezuela's ecosystems.
The Fundación is a member of PAT, a voluntary alliance of scientists, business leaders, and international experts dedicated to protecting the ecosystems of the tropical Andes. PAT has established a pilot program in the heart of the Venezuelan Andean paramo, or high moors. Among its projects are initiatives designed to increase agricultural productivity, in order to reduce the need for expansion of farms; an economic diversification program, which aims to reduce dependence on agriculture for economic survival; assistance – including loans at low or no interest – in the creation of micro-businesses; a program that promotes ecotourism as an alternative source of income and employment; and the administration of a research station that facilitates scientific investigation of the ecosystems of these fragile highlands.
