The Fundación Cisneros works to raise educational standards, create and expand educational opportunities, and advance in-depth study of key issues affecting Latin America.
Designed to improve the quality of basic education in Latin America, AME is an innovative distance-learning program that provides training to schoolteachers across the region via satellite television and the internet. Utilizing advanced media and information technologies, AME reaches more than 2,000 teachers in 145 schools across seven Latin American countries. AME partners include DirecTV Latin America, providing satellite access, and AOL Latin America, providing internet connectivity.

The Patricia and Gustavo Cisneros Endowment for Latin American Studies, Center for Latin American Studies at the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University

Designed to enrich Georgetown's Latin American Studies program in the areas of politics, history, and culture, the Endowment supports term appointments of visiting scholars and public figures; scholarships, fellowships, and travel grants for study in Latin America; and travel grants to scholars and other experts from Latin America for participation in symposia and conferences.

The Patricia and Gustavo Cisneros Endowment, David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, Harvard University

Established to invigorate the study of scientific, scholarly, and public issues affecting Latin America, the Endowment supports programs such as visiting scholars, publications, research, conferences, and seminars. To encourage sustained study and cultural exchange, the Endowment has established a fellowship program to support post-doctoral residencies for scholars from Latin America at Harvard.

The Gustavo and Ricardo Cisneros Endowment, Rockefeller University

The Endowment supports faculty appointments of Latin American scientists and research on diseases indigenous to Latin America. In particular, it has supported research on Chagas Disease, a parasitic infection that afflicts 16 to 18 million people in Latin America, and malaria, a potentially fatal disease concentrated in numerous geographic pockets throughout the continent.
