Each illustrated volume presents a comprehensive first-hand account of the artist’s development accompanied by critical reflections by the authors.

The core of the project is the creation of a network of scholars, practitioners, and intellectuals—whether independent or affiliated with universities, museums, cultural institutions, or the business world—who share a scholarly commitment to this previously understudied area. The network is intended to provide the foundation for a new field of scholarly inquiry, one that will open fresh areas of study and provide answers to questions that have long been thought solved.

The Fundación Cisneros/Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros offers a yearly scholarship to an artist from Latin America to participate in the Skowhegan nine-week intensive summer residency program.

Travel grants for students from Latin America to attend the conference, ARTE=ARCHIVOS: AMERICA LATINA Y OTRAS GEOGRAFIAS,  which is part of the Foro Internacional Latinoamericano para Investigadores Emergentes, (November 2010)

dOCUMENTA (13) and the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros have created a Curatorial Fellowship that will offer curators and scholars from Latin America the opportunity to work on the development of dOCUMENTA (13), an exhibition that will take place in the summer of 2012 in Kassel, Germany.

This fellowship is offered to young arts professionals from Latin America focused on contemporary art. The Curatorial Fellow will have the opportunity to gain work experience by participating and developing different projects and public programs for dOCUMENTA (13). The fellow will work closely with the office of Artistic Direction and Project Management. Candidates should have an interest in working with artists in the creation of art that is activated by the participation of different groups of people and in developing a diversified and interdisciplinary program for the visitors in a wide context of art, science and research.

Travel Fund at the Bard Center for Curatorial Studies (CCS)

For over a decade, CPPC has supported students of Latin America enrolled in the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College (CCS Bard). Each year, two graduate students from any nationality who are enrolled at CCS Bard, receive a grant to carry out an accredited summer internship or a post-graduate residency at an institution in Latin America. Past recipients have interned at Capacete in Brazil and the Museo Tamayo, SOMA and Museo Experimental El Eco in Mexico.Grants for CCS students to travel to Latin America as part of their summer internship program.

The initiative establishes the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Professorship in Latin American Art at Hunter and provides Hunter students with access to the resources of the FC/CPPC. These range from curatorial scholarship to archival materials, to artworks from the collection that will be made available for study, exhibition, and publication. The Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Professor will start teaching in 2011.

Discusiones: vanguardias del siglo XX [Discussions: avant-gardes of the 20th century], is a series of lectures by Venezuelan critics and curators who will discuss themes related to the avant-garde movements of the 20th century, including artists, movements, and other art-specific problems, in an effort to provide a broad view of the artistic currents of the past.

In collaboration with the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), the lectures will be targeted to students and young professionals in an effort to enrich their knowledge of the field, ignite their curiosity and the critical capacity necessary to approach and interpret the field of art from a range of perspectives.
