José Luis Barrios Lara

José Luis Barrios Lara, philosopher and art historian, is a full-time research professor at Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City and professor in the Philosophy and Literature Department at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He is also associate curator at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC). Lara has published nine books and more than fifty articles in magazines specializing in art and cultural criticism.

His most recent curatorial projects include: Welcome to Paradise. Oswaldo Ruíz at the Centro de la Imagen; Constitución Mexicana 1917–2017. Imágenes y voces at the Galerías de Palacio Nacional (February–September 2017); Un futuro anterior. Erick Meyenberg at the Laboratorio de Arte Alameda, INBA; Automatismos. Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, co-curated with Alejandra Labastida, at MUAC; El derrumbe de la estatua at MUAC; and Una habitación. Fragilidades sobre el exterior at Laboratorio de Arte Alameda in 2016. He was curator of the 54th edition of the Venice Biennale.
